Pilbara Ports throughput surpasses 66 million tonnes in December

Pilbara Ports recorded a total monthly throughput of 66.2 million tonnes (Mt) in December. The Port of Port Hedland achieved a throughput of 48.3 Mt, with 47.6 Mt comprising iron ore exports. This marked a 4% decrease in total throughput compared to December 2023. Imports through the Port of Port Hedland totalled 197,000 tonnes, representing a 10% decline from the same period last year.

Meanwhile, the Port of Dampier reported a total throughput of 16 Mt, reflecting a 6% increase from December 2023. Imports through the Port of Dampier amounted to 84,000 tonnes, a 21% decrease compared to December 2023.

Since 1 July 2024, total throughput across all ports reached 387.5 Mt, with fluctuations influenced by market conditions, maintenance activities, and the varying needs of proponents.
