Poor quality fuel sees MSC vessel stall in the Pacific

MSC has reported its 13,000TEU container ship MSC Ariane has suffered an engine failure due to poor quality fuel, which has caused the vessel to stop at sea, on 2 April, while en route from the Port of Xiamen, China to the Port of Los Angeles, US.

[s2If is_user_logged_in()]The Panama-flagged container vessel, deployed on 2M Alliance’s TP6/Pearl service, has been diverted, assisted by a tugboat with spare parts, back to Japan for repairs and is expected to reach the Port of Wakayama on 7 April.

MSC Ariane was anticipated to berth in Los Angeles on 24 April, but due to the incident and the congestion in the Los Angeles area, MSC expects a schedule adjustment to this original berthing plan.

The Swiss-based company noted it will communicate any updated information about the estimated arrival and berthing in Los Angeles.
