Building on the migration of Posidonia PCS to the cloud just over a year ago, the Port Authority of Gijón has now transitioned Posidonia Management, its Port Management System (PMS), to the cloud as well.
The PMS is a programme that is designed for the internal management of the port, streamlining administrative tasks such as invoicing, public domain management, and technical-nautical services.
While the Port Authority previously used the Prodevelop system on-premise, moving to the cloud showcases the Port of Gijón’s commitment to innovation and modernisation. This step towards digitalisation allows the Spanish port to reap numerous benefits associated with cloud computing.
Similar to the previous migration, this transition was executed swiftly and seamlessly, with no disruptions to the port or its community.
“The digitisation of ports is mandatory to face the new challenges ahead of us, “after a year of working with Posidonia PCS in the cloud and enjoying the advantages it brings us, the next logical step was to do it with Posidonia Management,” stated Blanca Girón, digitalisation and IT manager at the Port of Gijón.
Hosting is managed on AWS, ensuring proper operation and high-security standards, bolstered by Prodevelop’s certifications, including the ENS medium security certificate and ISO 20000 and 27001.
Thus, the Port Authority of Gijón extends these benefits to its clients and the port by partnering with reliable technological providers.
“Opting for the implementation of solutions under the SaaS model is a clear indication of the avant-garde character of an organisation, which is capable of understanding and interpreting where the market is heading,” added Miguel Montesinos, CEO of Prodevelop.
