Port Bronka offers incentives for green vessels

Port Bronka has decided to provide vessels having energy-efficient propulsion with a 10% discount for mooring and quay operations from 1 January 2022.

The Russian port said that energy-efficient propulsion is particularly relevant for shipping companies operating in the Baltic and North Seas and other water areas that are part of special Emission Control Areas designated under IMO and MARPOL environmental regulations.

“LNG fueled engines significantly reduce emissions of carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides and almost completely eliminates emissions of carbon black and sulfur oxides,” said Port Bronka and added, “another example of energy efficient propulsion is hybrid electric motor technology. Lithium-ion battery systems allow zero-emission port visits, as well as modern two-stroke engines, emission abatement systems, solar panels and an innovative air lubrication system, cut emissions further.”
