The volume of containerised shipments handled at the Port of Kobe in 2019 fell 2.7% from the previous year to 2,864,145TEU according to preliminary figures released today. Oceangoing shipments amounted to 2,185,294TEU, down 1.5%. Exports accounted for 1,178,487TEU, down 2%, while the remaining 1,006,807TEU was import cargo, which was down 1%.
In December 2019, a total of 235,198TEU were moved to and from Kobe, down 6.9% year on year. International freight totalled 182,472TEU, down 5.9%, of which 101,505TEU was exported cargo, down 8.5%, and 80,967TEU was imported cargo, down 2.4%.
