On Sunday 23 September, Port of Melbourne sponsored Ocean Crusaders “Paddle Against Plastic” event at Moonee Ponds Creek. Over 120 incredible volunteers braved the cold to remove 916 kg of debris in just 2 hours. This was added to the several tonnes of rubbish that Ocean Crusaders removed around the Port of Melbourne during the week.
Victorian Ports Corporation (Melbourne) was in also attendance with their Steer Clear safety vessel.
Ocean Crusaders is calling it their most successful community paddle event yet, and Port of Melbourne is proud to have played a role in that. Together we stopped tonnes of debris from making its way into Port Phillip Bay.
