Port of Gdańsk invests in road infrastructure

In the area of the Balti Hub container terminal, the Port of Gdańsk has finished the construction of an internal road, as well as a rainwater drainage system and utilities. This investment has made it feasible to get access to attractive areas planned for commercialization.

This concrete-surfaced road is about 350 meters long and 7 meters wide. It lies between Kontenerowa and Antoniego Grabarczyka streets. It was built to withstand severe traffic and has six entrances, two for each real estate to be leased.

The task included comprehensive drainage of the road and areas intended for commercialization, which included the construction of a gravitational and pumping rainwater drainage network, as well as a pumping station and a retention and drainage reservoir, allowing the collection of rainwater and snow water from the newly constructed road and areas intended for lease. Importantly, multi-discipline utilities (water mains, sanitary sewerage, electricity, and telecommunications networks) were built.

This initiative allows access to desirable commercialization regions, such as the installation of additional handling and storage terminals in the Outer Port, close to the Baltic Hub container port.

The ‘design and build’ method was used to complete the assignment. The contract was signed in early 2021. Roverpol Sp. z o.o. and Rover Infraestructuras S.A. formed the project’s contractor consortium. The contract was worth approximately US$3 million.
