Three electric rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes by Konecranes featuring an auto plug-in system have been ordered by the operator of the Port of Koper in Slovenia, Luka Koper d.d.
The order was placed in the first quarter of 2022 and is expected to be delivered in February 2023. After the delivery of the new equipment, the company will operate a fleet of 30 Konecranes RTGs at the major Slovenian port.
“Koper is a forward-looking container terminal operator with ambitious environmental goals, a quality that is strongly supported by our ecolifting approach,” said Adel Issa, sales manager EMEA at Konecranes, Port Solutions.
The low-noise electric RTGs are similar to those already operating at Koper, while the new cranes will have cable reel systems and an auto plug-in feature.
They will feed regenerative power back to the local grid and have energy-efficient LED lights, according to Konecranes, which said the new machines will also have a selection of Smart Features: DGPS Auto-Steering, Auto-TOS Reporting, Auto-Positioning, Truck Lift Prevention and Stack Collision Prevention.
