The Port of Melbourne announced Leigh Petschel’s appointment as the organization’s new chief financial officer.
Petschel will join the Port on 13 November after serving as chief financial officer and vice president at Monash University since mid-2021. Prior to joining Monash, Petschel worked for Transurban in Australia and North America as a general manager and vice president.
In addition, given his broad background in finance and business strategy in infrastructure and regulated industries, Petschel’s experience is well-matched with the organization’s aims.
“I would also like to thank outgoing CFO Darryl Mutzelburg for his significant contribution and leadership. Since 2017, Darryl has overseen the transition of the business from government to private ownership including refinancing approximately US$5 billion of debt and embedding the unique regulatory framework applicable to Port of Melbourne,” stated Saul Cannon, CEO at Port of Melbourne.
