Port of Melbourne reported total container throughput of 252,000 TEUs in August, translating to a 6% decrease over the same month in 2023.
The Australian port saw its full container imports to decline with miscellaneous manufactureers and clothing below last year’s volumes, while furnitutre and domestic appliances increased compared to last year.
On the other hand, Melbourbe port’s full container exports rose in August with timber, hay, chaff & fodder, barley and wheat all above last year’s volumes.
At the same time, August’s total empty container movements were down in Melbourne agaist prior year’s figures.
