Port of New York and New Jersey nears 780,000 TEUs, marking second-busiest September ever

Port of New York and New Jersey achieved the second-busiest September of all time, eclipsed only by the pandemic-related cargo surge in 2022, handling a total of 779,388 TEUs during the month.

“We maintained our status as the nation’s second-busiest gateway for loaded cargo, handling 4,388,397 loaded TEUs over the first nine months of the year,” said the US port in an announcement.

September 2024’s total activity represented an 18% increase over the same month last year, and a 25% jump from pre-pandemic September 2019.
