Port of Sagunto’s rail connection to the Mediterranean Corridor is progressing

ADIF (Administrador de Infraestructuras Ferroviaria), Puertos del Estado, and the Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) officials and specialists reviewed the progress of train links that will connect the Port of Sagunto with the Mediterranean Corridor.

The project has a US$39.1 million expenditure allocation with Valenciaport contributing US$26.8 million, while the European Union’s Regional Development Fund (ERDF) will give the remaining US$12.3 million.

The parties noted the pace of execution of the project and how advanced the works are; from the physical connection of the tracks that will link the Port of Sagunto with the general network of ADIF, to the last section of work that passes over the drainage channel of Arcelor, almost at the gates of the port area.

The Port Authority of Valencia noted that Volkswagen’s choice to locate its battery mega-factory in Parc Sagunt was driven by the gradual development of the railway link to the Port of Sagunto.
