Port of Santos: Battleground for Industry Giants

DP World has entered into a significant long-term strategic agreement with Maersk to bolster maritime services at its terminal in the Port of Santos, Brazil.

This eight-year agreement underscores Maersk’s willingness to introduce additional long-term services and maintain a minimum service level. In the first year, the Danish ocean carrier will launch six new services with eight weekly calls, increasing to seven services and 10 weekly calls in 2026 following DP World’s capacity expansion.

To facilitate this growth, DP World has pledged a substantial investment of R$450 million to elevate its container-handling capacity from 1.4 million TEUs to 1.7 million TEUs by the end of 2026. An additional investment of R$1.6 billion is planned to further enhance the capacity to 2.1 million TEUs by the end of 2027.
