Port of Tanjung Pelepas achieves new shift volume records

Port of Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP), a joint venture between MMC Group and APM Terminals, sets a new shift volume record with 13,700 quayside moves in a single 12 hours shift, breaking its own previous shift record of 12,557 moves set in 2020.

This result also set a new hourly movement record of 1,308 quayside moves in a single hour.

Marco Neelsen, PTP’s CEO said this latest milestone further underscores PTP’s position as the busiest container terminal in Malaysia.

Additionally, PTP has implemented various sustainable solutions including efforts to reduce carbon footprint by electrifying its equipment, introducing various automation initiatives such as the Asset Digitisation Program, collaborating with local academia on studies of the Prime Mover Automation project as well as introducing women empowerment agenda to attract more local female talents into its workforce, especially as terminal equipment drivers.

Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) is Malaysia’s busiest transshipment hub with the capacity to handle 13 million TEUs annually.

Neelsen noted, “PTP’s strategic approach to continuously enhance efficiency and optimize its footprint have served tremendously in keeping the terminal’s competitive advantage in an increasingly competitive global market.”
