Port of Southampton, new vehicle terminal

Construction of a new vehicle terminal has been announced at the Port of Southampton, as the latest phase a £50 million investment by ABP.

The new £15 million multi-storey facility will be built in the Eastern Dock and will provide storage for a further 3,000 vehicles. This investment will continue to strengthen the port’s position as a global hub for automotive and is expected to be completed in 2019.

The Port of Southampton is the UK’s hub for automotive with 11 lines undertaking 110 calls to 52 ports in 40 countries every month – making it a huge asset for Britain.

Alastair Welch, ABP Southampton Director, said: “ABP has already invested more than £32 million over the past five years to support the automotive industry.

“We continue to work closely with our customers to ensure that this growth can be sustained.

Ne“The investment is testimony to the performance of the Port of Southampton and will help increase the port’s vital contribution to the regional and national economy and keeping Britain trading.”
