Port Sudan to improve its maritime communication systems

As part of transforming its maritime communication systems, Port Sudan launched a competitive tendering process through the help of Marine Equipment & Services Co. Ltd.

Danphone, a global solution partner and supplier in the maritime technology sector, providing GMDSS coastal radio communication and safety systems and advanced maritime test equipment worldwide, stood out in this attempt, participating in three of the four high-quality bids.

The company’s experience and client base made it an ideal candidate for bringing Port Sudan’s communication system in line with international standards.

Given the port’s worldwide and regional importance, finding a reliable GMDSS provider was critical. Danphone was picked as a partner after careful consideration of its knowledge, capabilities, and alignment with the firm’s objectives.

“Given the port’s global and regional significance, selecting a reliable GMDSS provider was crucial. Danphone was chosen as a partner based on a thorough evaluation of its expertise, capabilities, and compatibility with our goals. They have a strong track record of delivering high-quality products and services that will help enhance dependable ship-to-shore communications, improve distress call responses, and accelerate SAR (Search and Rescue) activities. This will considerably strengthen maritime safety across the Red Sea,” said Yousif Abubakr, sales and marketing director at Marine Equipment & Services.

In addition, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Safety of Life at Sea Convention (SOLAS) has mandated GMDSS (Global Maritime Distress and Safety System) on all ships worldwide since 1988.

The Sea Port Cooperation Sudan (SPC) must follow this law, which is overseen by the Ministry of Transportation. As a result, Port Sudan’s maritime communication capabilities will be significantly enhanced.

Also, the SPC organises and operates the project, which is secured with the assistance of Marine Equipment & Services.

The purpose is to establish cutting-edge and trustworthy coastal communication systems, which are required to maintain efficient operations, protect all vessels in the area, and retain regional significance.

“As one of the primary vendors for the SPC, our contributions have encompassed various aspects. This includes providing information, a comprehensive technical catalogue, and extensive discussions with the technical team at SPC. With the port’s important placement, we had to diligently address all inquiries and concerns, leveraging our extensive expertise in this domain to ensure the best solution for the project,” stated Yousif Abubakr.
