Port of Zeebrugge reports a growth of 6.3%

Port of Zeebrugge has reported a growth of 6.3% during the first semester compared to the same period last year. There was a total of 19,450,286 tons cargo volume processed in Zeebrugge. The increase is situated in the roro sector (+9.3%), fluid bulk goods (+15.1%) and the container sector (+6.1%).

The roll-on/roll-off traffic has grown with 9.3% with a total of 8 million tons. Growth is registered for the UK (+1.9%), Ireland (+9.1%), Scandinavia (+4.2%) and Southern Europe (+23.6%).

In the first semester of this year Zeebrugge processed 1,456,142 new cars (+2%).

The container traffic registered a growth of 6.1% with a total volume of 7.7 million tons.

The fluid bulk cargo registered an increase of 15.1% to 2.5 million tons. This was mainly due to the increase of LNG cargo.

Solid bulk in Zeebrugge decreased this first semester by 11.2% to 651,703 tons.

Breakbulk industry reported a decrease in Zeebrugge by 29.1% to 536,589 tons.
