Porto Itapoá hits 1 million TEU milestone faster than ever

Brazil’s Porto Itapoá has achieved another container milestone, handling 1 million TEUs in the first 10 months of 2024.

This performance is translated to a new box volume record driven mainly by the completion of Phase III of the port’s expansion in the first half of the year. The Latin American port has increased the size of its yard to a capacity of 455,000 m², which is the largest in Santa Catarina and one of the largest in Brazil.

Additionally, the new infrastructure boosted the annual container capacity to 1.8 million TEUs and the storage capacity to 31,000 TEUs.

“This expansion shows that we remain committed to providing a more efficient service with a greater logistical capacity and establishes Porto Itapoá as a real giant in the port industry,” highlighted Ricardo Arten, CEO of Porto Itapoá.
