Prodevelop concludes EIFFEL Project

Prodevelop recently concluded the EIFFEL project, a Horizon 2020 initiative launched in 2021 to advance climate adaptation and mitigation strategies through artificial intelligence AI and GEOSS (Global Earth Observation System of Systems) data integration.

In collaboration with the Balearic Islands Port Authority (BPA) and the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), Prodevelop developed an AI-powered tool to monitor and predict air pollution at Balearic ports, addressing emissions from over 50,000 ship calls and millions of annual passengers.

The EIFFEL application leverages historical GEOSS (Copernicus) data, real-time sensor data, and weather forecasts to monitor pollutants like NO₂, SO₂, and particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5), providing 72-hour pollution forecasts. This tool enables BPA to make proactive, data-driven decisions to reduce emissions and improve environmental quality around port areas.

According to the statement, this project will facilitate pollution forecasting and emissions management and enhance transparency and public communication.
