PSA and KAI ink MoU to boost Indonesia’s rail ecosystem

PSA Indonesia (PSA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) (KAI) to work together to improve Indonesia’s rail and rail-linked logistics ecosystem.

The MoU aims to motivate and align both partners’ efforts to boost connectivity and build an efficient and sustainable multimodal transportation network in Indonesia.

PSA and KAI will also collaborate on joint feasibility studies to build collaboration strategies and investigate future co-investment in Indonesian rail-linked infrastructure, whether new or existing.

This comprises cooperative management and operations in sectors such as global logistics, railway-based container terminals, and multimodal Door-to-Door (D2D) integrated freight transportation.

The collaboration aims to capitalise on synergies and their combined expertise, including PSA’s global presence and experience in rail-linked projects, including a suite of innovative digital solutions that will improve efficiency and connectivity across supply chain nodes, and KAI’s established and extensive rail network in Indonesia.

PSA and KAI will also work together to cultivate talent through cross-cultural training and exchange programmes in order to improve knowledge sharing and value creation.

Ong Kim Pong, regional CEO of Southeast Asia, PSA International, and Didiek Hartantyo, president director of KAI, signed the MOU on 25 August 2023, at the Jakarta Railways Centre in Jakarta, Indonesia.
