The 100th train of the Moscow Container Express service departed on 18 November from the DeloPorts-operated NUTEP terminal in the Russian Port of Novorossiysk to reach Selyatino in Moscow region.
The multimodal transport operator Ruscon organised the dispatch of the container train, which is part of the weekly Moscow Express service.
Before the departure, a festive ceremony was held in honour of this event. The attendees, including Ruscon, Maersk and DeloPorts employees, noted that the service offers advantages such as fast delivery, while it is also more environmentally friendly than road transport and safe passage of goods.
Speaking at the ceremony, the First Vice President of Ruscon, Andrey Chernyshev stated, “Thanks to this service, we were able to reduce the volume of road transportation and, as a result, reduce the amount of carbon dioxide emissions.”
For this reason, Chernyshev pointed out that there are plans to expand the geography of such services and develop new destinations.
Since February 2020, over 4,400 loaded containers have been transported by train on the Novorossiysk-Moscow route of Moscow Express service which has helped clean federal highways in Russia from trucks, reducing a huge amount of carbon dioxide emissions.
