Russia and Japan test rail transport potential

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) of Japan will cooperate with the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation and Russian Railways to conduct another trial of freight transport from Japan to Europe via Russia by way of the Trans-Siberian Railway (TSR). The MLIT announced it on January 10, adding that precision machinery will be handled in the project.

The new trial will be carried out by Yusen Logistics from January through February for the transport of precision machinery from Nagoya to Duisburg, Germany. It had been selected according to the screen criteria set forth on the application guidelines among those applied for the project, which excluded the three that had already been conducted. In addition to the points measured in the previous trials, the ministry indicated that the trial would also examine vibrations produced while precision machinery is transported. The report on detailed analysis results will be released within the current fiscal year.
