Safeen Feeders, the feeder operator which Abu Dhabi Ports launched jointly with Singapore-based feeder operator Bengal Tiger Line in June 2020, has bought its first ship since its establishment.
The company has been identified as having bought the 2,500TEU Safeen Prime (ex Banak) for US$30.77 million from Torvald Klaveness group, which exited the container segment in July with the sale of its last four container vessels, which were all of the same size. The buyers of the other three ships have not been identified.
Safeen Feeders was set up to respond to demand for feeder services within the Persian Gulf and Indian sub-continent and is considering adding routes to cover east Africa and the Red Sea areas.
The company has been operating with a UAE-Indian Sub-Continent service with three 1,700TEU ships and a UAE-Oman service with a 1,000TEU ship. The vessels were from Bengal Tiger Line, which operates only chartered ships.
