Saudi ports exceed 600,000 TEU in May

Saudi Ports’ container throughput reached 600,107 TEU in May, translating to a slight increase of 1.38% compared to the figure recorded last year in the same period.

In the previous month, the exported containers increased by 2.57% with a total of 175,958 TEU, while the imported containers decreased by 0.64% with a total of 176,978 TEU.

Initiatives launched by Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani), in line with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy (NTLS), have increased the number of transshipment containers in Saudi ports to 247,172 TEU, which is a 2,01% growth compared to figures in May 2021.

Moreover, Saudi ports saw more vessels and vehicles in May. Overall, 1,020 ships (+3.03%) and 81,737 vehicles (+42.33%) moved through the ports in Saudi Arabia.
