South Carolina Ports expects higher-than-average container traffic at the Port of Charleston (USA) in February as the state continues to attract new firms.
SC Ports has handled approximately 1.8 million TEUs and 978,374 pier containers (containers of any size) in the fiscal year 2023. Meanwhile, TEUs are down 5% from the same period last year.
Also, SC Ports and the maritime community handled 201,418 TEUs and 111,118 pier containers in February, a 13% decrease from the previous year.
On the other hand, loaded exports have been increasing for several months. Loaded exports at the Port of Charleston increased 12% yearly in February. SC Ports provides an export-receiving window to help exporters with dependability and assistance.
“While we are seeing economic uncertainty impact volumes, South Carolina Ports remains well-positioned as a well-run port in the booming Southeast market,” stated Barbara Melvin, president and CEO of SC Ports.
