Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg unveils digital system of production control

The Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg JSC has put into operation the information and logistics system of production control ILSAR.

The new digital system allows for a real-time obtaining and processing of data at all phases of cargo operations, “from the moment cargo is shipped to the port to the moment it is delivered to a customer,” according to the port’s statement.

ILSAR facilitates the digitalisation of internal document flow and data exchange with the company’s key clients. Railway waybills, specifications, acts and statements, as well as acceptance and processing of orders will be covered by online document generation.

Within a common information field, ILSAR users at the Russian port can control the approach of railcars, ships and road transport, the state of transport and the space available at the storage facilities, according to the announcement.

This type of resource accounting is estimated to improve the organisation’s handling operations, management of cargo flows and planning of further activities.

Moreover, the new system automates monthly planning of cargo delivery, accumulation and shipment, as well as shiftwork scheduling with the distribution of labour force and handling resources between fields of operation, cargo plans for loading and unloading of each ship.

Driven by the integration with other information technology (IT) systems, including Russian Railways’ ETRAN, ILSAR automates accounting and planning throughout the chain of cargo operations. In addition, analysis of production processes will let improve the management decisions and the port operational efficiency.

“Introduction of advanced digital tools into our stevedoring activities gives us advantages and opportunities to meet the best global standards”, said Andrey Yaroslavtsev, Managing Director, of Saint-Petersburg port.

In the future, a personal area is anticipated to appear for clients to track cargo.
