SeaLead announces strategic appointments to drive global expansion

Global shipping company SeaLead has announced a series of strategic appointments amid its ongoing growth in key regions.

Having met its operational targets in business performance and financial results, the company has increased its market share by expanding new routes and connections in regional and global container shipping markets.

SeaLead has established a five-member Board of Directors to provide strategic oversight and drive the company’s ambitious growth plans. Collectively, the Board boasts 180 years of industry experience, reflecting the high calibre of its leadership.

The Board members are:

  • SC Chan, Chairman
  • Joachim Schlotfeldt, Board Member (non-executive)
  • Kim Young So, Board Member (non-executive)
  • Capt. Subhangshu Dutt, Board Member (non-executive)
  • Martin Kaalund, Board Member (non-executive)

Two key resolutions were passed at the inaugural meeting: SC Chan was appointed chairman of the board of directors, and Suleyman Avci was named Global Chief Executive Officer.

Chan, a seasoned maritime executive with over 35 years of industry experience, began his career at sea and qualified as a master mariner in 1987. He then joined OOCL, where he held several positions, including Regional Managing Director of OOCL Singapore.

He also served as the CEO of China Sonangol Group, which operates across various sectors such as oil and gas, industrial infrastructure, mining, real estate, commodities, and transportation.

“I am honoured to take on this role at such a pivotal time for SeaLead. With our renewed focus and strategic direction, I am confident that we will continue to deliver exceptional
value to our customers and stakeholders” commented on his appointment, SC Chan.

Suleyman Avci, the Global Chief Executive Officer of SeaLead, brings over 30 years of industry experience to his role. Before joining SeaLead as Vice President of Global Trade Management and Managing Director for Europe and the Mediterranean, he held several senior leadership positions, including Managing Director of Arkas Line, Chief Business Development Officer at Arkas Group, and Chief Operating Officer at MAS Shipping in Dubai, UAE.

In line with its growth strategy, SeaLead has opened a new office at its Singapore headquarters.
