Senior shipping carriers publish fresh June rates

Major shipping lines have announced new charges for several destinations from June.

Maersk has announced it will revise its peak season surcharge (PSS) from the world excluding the North American region to Apapa, Nigeria and Tin Can Island Port, Nigeria for all cargo effective 1 June 2020 for all corridors.

In addition, CMA CGM has published a fresh PSS effective from 1 June 2020.

  • Origin : Black Sea ports
  • Destination: Middle East & Red Sea Ports
  • Cargo: Dry
  • Amount: US$300 per unit
  • Origin: Asia including China, South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Southeast Asia & Bangladesh, and India Subcontinent & Middle East Gulf
  • Destination: Lagos ports: Apapa and Tin Can, Nigeria
  • Cargo: Dry, Reefer, OOG, Breakbulk
  • Amount: US$1,400 per unit

Furthermore, Hapag-Lloyd will implement the following general rate increase (GRI) on the westbound trade from the US to East Asian destinations as of 10 June 2020 (date of cargo receipt at origin).

The German shipping company said this GRI will apply for all dry, reefer, non-operating reefer, tank, flat rack and open-top containers as follows:

North America (US) to East Asia

  • US$50 per all 20′ container types
  • US$100 per all 40′ container types

East Asia is defined as being the countries/districts of Japan, Republic of Korea, China/Taiwan, China/Hong Kong, China (PRC), China/Macau, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia, The Philippines and Russian Pacific Coast Provinces.
