Thessaloniki Port Authority (ThPA) is enhancing its reefer container handling capabilities by integrating RTE’s GRASP automated reefer monitoring platform.
This cutting-edge system, along with WRAD II Bluetooth® wireless devices, is expected to transform the Greek port’s reefer operations, ensuring more efficient and effective handling.

The Port of Thessaloniki is located in Northern Greece, offering close proximity to major Trans-European motorway and railway networks, providing direct access to Southeastern European countries. Since 2018, the port authority has invested over US$77 million to upgrade the Port.
The incorporation of RTE’s reefer monitoring technology into 400 reefer container points at the Port of Thessaloniki is part of ThPA’s initiative to transform the port into a “smart port”.
WRAD II is among several RTE reefer monitoring systems that link to the GRASP software platform, delivering real-time reefer data to terminal management through various user interfaces.
By adopting RTE’s reefer monitoring solution, ThPA ensures automatic monitoring of reefers in its terminal while continuing to provide value-added services to its partners. This significant advancement highlights the benefits of the solution, including precise data management, historical record-keeping, and real-time alerts to changes in reefer status.
