Subrosa Group launches maritime security division

Subrosa Group (SRG) announced the inauguration of its latest division, SRG Maritime Security, dedicated to providing top-tier security services worldwide to the commercial shipping and offshore industries, private vessels, and superyachts.

Led by Niall Burns, CEO of SRG, whose career in specialist security spans more than 24 years, starting in the UK Military’s Royal Marines and later as a member of Maritime Counter-Terrorist teams as a Special Forces Communicator, SRG Maritime Security is prepared to establish an unprecedented benchmark in maritime protection.

“The establishment of our Maritime Security division is a direct response to the
critical need for elite armed protection for large vessels navigating increasingly perilous waters worldwide. Incidents of maritime attacks are alarmingly on the rise, endangering the security, safety, and welfare of mariners daily as they traverse the oceans,” stated Burns.

Furthermore, SRG MarSec deploys highly skilled teams to provide armed protection to vessels, whether during passage through hostile, high-risk areas or for ongoing offshore marine operations. These teams consist of exceptionally trained personnel with extensive experience in elite military units, ensuring the safety and security of crew and assets and acting as a powerful deterrent to potential threats.

In addition to onboard security services, SRG MarSec offers a variety of supplementary services, including the design of safe rooms/citadels, installation of video surveillance systems, Information Communication Technology (ICT) security, consultancy on kidnapping and ransom situations, hostage negotiation, and 24/7 support from Company Security Officers. All services are fully backed by a 24/7 Security Operations Center (SOC).

Moreover, SRG MarSec conducts all operations by the highest international standards, including ISO 28000:2022 for Security Management Systems, ISO 28007-1:2015 for Private Maritime Security Companies (PMSCs), and adherence to relevant UN principles and agreements such as the Montreux Agreement and the United Nations Basic Principles on the Use of Force and Firearms.

“Our operators possess unrivalled expertise in safeguarding large vessels, including cargo ships, cruise liners, super yachts, crude oil tankers/carriers (VLCCs), and offshore rig platforms, from pirate attacks and other threats. We offer a premium service for a moderate investment, providing not only protection but also peace of mind to our clients,” added Burns.
