Swire Shipping will become the sole operator of its US West Coast-South Pacific service, after its partner Hamburg Süd withdraws from the loop in June 2023.
The company will commence solo operations of the service on 16 June, when its chartered ship, 1,700 TEU Mount Cameron, is expected to depart Long Beach, California, US. In the second half of June, Swire Shipping will deploy a second ship to replace Hamburg Sud’s 1,304 TEU Cap Salia.
The US West Coast-South Pacific service calls at Long Beach, Oakland, Papeete, Apia, Pago Pago and Long Beach, with a turnaround time of 38 days.
Hamburg Süd, whose brand will be subsumed under the Maersk name, had been operating the service with Swire Shipping since February 2000.
