Tanker catches fire off Portugal

The Maltese-flagged oil/chemical tanker Greta K suffered a fire outbreak on board and went adrift at approximately 15:30 (UTC) on 21 March, about 1.5 miles off the coast, roughly 3 kilometers from Ingleses Beach in Foz do Douro, Portugal.

According to Maritime Bulletin, the fire broke out in the engine room. Tugs were dispatched and 12 crew members were evacuated with no injuries reported, while seven seafarers remained on board.

As of the morning of 22 March, the fire was believed to be under control or extinguished, with firemen watching potential smoldering areas and cooling the fire area, while tugs were still on the scene.
