Tianjin Port records steady growth in container throughput

China’s Tianjin Port, located on the Bohai Sea, handled over 9.12 million TEUs of containers in the first five months of this year, up 7.7% year-on-year.

Moreover, the Chinese port’s cargo throughput totalled 231 million tonnes in the January-May period, representing a year-on-year increase of 2.4%, told Chu Bin, chairman of Tianjin Port (Group), in a press briefing.

Chu Bin said that Tianjin port’s goal is to increase its annual container throughput to more than 27 million TEUs in 2027, while the port has currently 144 container shipping routes.
