The Indonesian logistics company, GL Terminal has been appointed by one of the world’s largest shipping lines to provide container depot and trucking services in Jakarta.
The two companies have agreed on a one-year collaboration, renewed based on performance, according to GL Terminal’s representative, who told Container News that the cooperation between GL Terminal and the global liner operator will launch in approximately two weeks.
Although the name of the involved container line has not been disclosed yet, sources told Container News that it is among the top-five container shipping companies in the world in terms of TEU capacity.
The contract was awarded to GL Terminal after a competitive tender, according to a statement.
GL Terminal is a newcomer to the inland container depot market in Indonesia, which, in addition to material handling equipment, utilises technology and digital innovation.
For the new contract, GL Terminal will provide a range of services, including empty container handling and storage, container inspection, cleaning and repair, empty truck repositioning, garment on hanger (GOH) fabrication and installation, and reefer pre-trip inspection, monitoring, trouble-shooting and repair.
The award of the contract followed a lengthy and detailed tender and requirements assessment that included both technical and compliance information and recognition of the importance of the customer’s code of conduct.
“We look forward to a strategic and mutually beneficial partnership and possible future expansion and further cooperation,” commented Paul Good, GL Terminal founder.
