APL, Trans-Pacific Market: Holiday Logistics – U.S West Coast Ports

APL’s announcement:

This is to inform that the U.S. West Coast marine terminals located at the Los Angeles-Long Beach basin, in Oakland, CA and Seattle, WA, will be expecting a significant impact from the annual post July 4th- Holiday and July 5th – ILWU no-work calendar.

Accordingly, the following areas or issues are anticipated to arise:

  • Backing up of vessels that are berthing, at the various terminals;
  • Implications on the availability of labor, chassis and truck power; and
  • Overall congestion at the associated marine terminals

We therefore encourage that you expedite your import cargo prior to Wednesday, July 4 (U.S. Pacific time). This will assist in reducing post-holiday congestion throughout the West Coast ports.

For more information, please contact your local APL representative.
