Trelleborg secures major contract with HHI for navigation system installation on 71 vessels

Trelleborg Marine and Infrastructure has been awarded a contract by Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), based in South Korea, to supply its cutting-edge SafePilot P3 navigation systems to 71 ships.

This deal highlights the system’s swift market penetration since its debut in December 2022, boasting sales of over 2,500 units worldwide. The partnership emphasizes the growing demand for sophisticated navigation technologies and bolsters Trelleborg’s presence in the competitive Asian market.

Specifically designed to meet the Panama Canal Authority’s (ACP) new standards for Neopanamax vessels, SafePilot P3 is the first navigation solution to receive ACP approval.

The SafeCaptain App also serves as a mobile display for pilots and captains, providing official sea charts with specialized overlays for accurate vessel navigation.

Tommy Mikkelsen, Managing Director of the Navigation and Piloting division at Trelleborg Marine and Infrastructure, remarked that this is a significant achievement for Trelleborg and a testament to the confidence the industry places in the SafePilot P3 system.
