The Port of Valencia has set contingency measures to tackle the congestion that has been caused by the truck driver strike across Spain, which has been ongoing since 14 March.
From 26 March at 14:00 (local time) onwards, all three Valencia terminals will only admit trucks to pick up empty units bound for depots and trucks for laden import container retrieval.
Additionally, the terminals of the Spanish port will cease acceptance of laden export containers with the only exception of full reefer export containers and containers bound to the Canary Islands.
“As per the information received by the Port Authority of Valencia, this contingency situation will last for as long as is necessary until the minimum space has been freed at each terminal to accept export laden containers again,” said Maersk in its latest advisory.
