Following engine failures on both the MSC Ariane and Maersk Eureka the two vessels are back in service with the Maersk Eureka already having been repaired and is now berthed in the Port of Long Beach, while Maersk Ariane is expected to leave Japan after taking on fuel.
MSC Ariane, which operates on the 2M Alliance’s TP6/Pearl service suffered an engine failure from what was described as a “poor fuel quality”.
[s2If is_user_logged_in()]Maersk said today, 13 April, that MSC has advised that its vessel MSC Ariane is expected to complete repairs by the end of this week and that it will take on bunkers in Yokohama before sailing for Los Angeles as previously planned.
“The arrival to anchor in Los Angeles is still unknown. The MSC Ariane was expected to berth in Los Angeles on April 24th. Due to the congestion in the Los Angeles area, we are now expecting a schedule adjustment to this original berthing plan,” added Maersk Line.
Meanwhile, the Maersk Eureka, which suffered a fuel pump failure and was repaired while still at sea, 650 miles off Dutch Harbor, Alaska, in the North Pacific. Repairs were completed at the end of March and the vessel has now arrived in Long Beach and will continue operations as planned.
