US$10.3 million front street beutification project starts at Port of Los Angeles

Tim McOsker, 15th District Los Angeles City council member and officials from the port of Los Angeles broke ground on the US$10.3 million Front Street Beautification Project on the Los Angeles Waterfront.

The project aims to enhance connectivity and public access to the LA Waterfront for both Wilmington and San Pedro.

According to Port of Los Angeles, the Front Street Beautification Project will include the design and construction of a landscaped gateway area at the northeast corner of Front Street and Pacific Avenue, just north of the Vincent Thomas Bridge (SR-47).

The area will feature an around seven meters wide multi-use pathway for both pedestrians and bicyclists, as well as a 1,5 metre landscaped strip along Front Street.

Additionally, the project will feature new pedestrian lighting, additional landscaping, and other site amenities. The completion of the project is expected in 2024.

McOsker said, “This new green space and multi-use pathway will serve as a safer and welcome public access link between our San Pedro and Wilmington communities. The residents have been patiently waiting for this project for over 10 years and I want to thank them for their dedication to making this project happen.”
