The United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) has awarded a grant to Thailand’s Ministry of Transport’s Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning (OTP) for technical assistance to strengthen Thailand’s supply chain network and advance the decarbonisation of the country’s cargo transportation system.
The assistance provided by USTDA will aid in the development of intermodal and logistics infrastructure that will ease the transition of goods movement from road to rail.
“This project will reduce carbon dioxide emissions, improve road safety, and increase the efficiency of Thailand’s transportation infrastructure,” stated Enoh T. Ebong, USTDA’s director.
Thailand’s intermodal transportation system is expected to be strengthened through infrastructure, technology, and practical changes. The help will also include the development of technical plans for particular intermodal sites that will serve as a proof of concept for demonstrating the efficacy of combined freight operations between road and rail carriers.
