ValenciaPort handled 3,000 export boxes/day in August

Valenciaport has operated 3,000 full containers in exports per day during August, reaching a total of 89,745TEU which translates to an increase of 6% over the same month of the previous year and 13.4% over pre-pandemic 2019.

The Spanish port claimed that it has consolidated its position as the best partner in imports and exports for companies in its area of influence with its facilities handling 40% of the country’s exports and imports by sea.

During the first eight months of the year, Valenciaport has handled more than 3.75 million TEU, representing a growth of 7.93% compared to the same period of 2020. Additionally, rail traffic during the first eight months has also grown by 18.6% compared to the corresponding period of 2020.

During the same period, a total of almost 57 million tonnes of goods have been handled through the docks of Valenciaport, which translates to an improvement of 10% compared to the January-August period of 2020.

Regarding the full container traffic partners of the Spanish port, China is Valencia’s main one with 404,294TEU handled so far this year, an increase of 19.5%, followed by the United States and Turkey with 362,752TEU and 211,442TEU, respectively.

“The crisis generated by Covid-19 has been overcome and maritime traffic, and the work of the export companies in Valenciaport’s hinterland, has led to the dynamism of economic activity as a key element in the recovery,” stated the Port Authority.
