German ship owner Vega Reederei has decided to make a noteworthy profit from four newbuildings, which are currently under construction at the Chinese shipyard Yangfan Group.
Vega Reederei has agreed with the French global carrier CMA CGM to sell its four 1,900 TEU container vessels at a reported price of US$44.5 million per ship, according to London-based shipbrokers Braemar ACM.
The quartet seems to have been ordered for a reported US$23 million per vessel, according to Alphaliner reports.
Hence, Vega Reederei is expected to gain almost US$21.5 million per unit, which translates to a total profit of US$86 million, after the completion of the transaction.
The four newbuildings were scheduled for delivery between the fourth quarter of 2022 and the first quarter of 2023.
