Wallenius Lines acquires two Ro-Ro cargo ships

Wallenius Lines has acquired two Ro-Ro cargo ships, Thuleland and Tundraland, from Baltic Container Shipping as part of its ongoing strategy to expand through both new vessel construction and the acquisition of second-hand ships.

These vessels are currently operated by WALLENIUS SOL, a joint venture between Wallenius Lines and Svenska Orient Linjen, to bolster sustainable infrastructure in the Gulf of Bothnia and the Baltic Sea.

Both ships will continue to fly the Swedish flag and remain under the management of Wallenius Marine. They will also continue to be chartered on a long-term basis to WALLENIUS SOL.

“We are pleased to continue our investment as an active ship owner within Wallenius Lines and the vessels will continue to be an important part of WALLENIUS SOL’s fleet,” stated Anders Thyberg, Senior Vice President Investments at Wallenius Lines.

The vessels were built at Aker Yards in Rauma, Finland, in 2006 and 2007, while the acquisition was finalized on 25 September 2024.
