The 2,038TEU container ship Wan Hai 288 suffered a collision with the bulk carrier AMC Navigator in Hong Kong waters on 17 November, according to Maritime Bulletin’s report.
Wan Hai’s newbuilding was restricted by an oncoming container ship on its portside, being unable to swing to port as it was required by circumstances, to avoid the collision, said Maritime Bulletin.
According to the reports, the boxship has suffered heavy damages in the bow section, and will probably be taken to a shipbuilding yard in Taiwan for repairs, while AMC Navigator was seriously damaged.
