Wan Hai embarks on another round of container orders

Wan Hai Lines has ordered more containers as liner operators continue to manage the equipment crunch.

The Taiwanese intra-Asia carrier confirmed an order of 48,000TEU of dry containers, comprising 30,000TEU from China International Marine Containers (CIMC) and 18,000TEU from Xiamen Pacific Container Manufacturing.

The total cost will come up to US$148.6 million.

In May, Wan Hai said after the release of its Q1 2021 results that it would order approximately 50,000TEU of containers. This plan was reaffirmed after a board meeting on 8 September.

In January, Wan Hai ordered 50,000TEU of containers for US$141.73 million.
