Wan Hai has put ten container vessels up for demolition sale, announcing that potential buyers can join the bidding process.
The Taiwanese container carrier aims to sell six 1,368 TEU ships, Wan Hai 215, 216, 221, 222, 223 and 225, and four 1,088 TEU ships, Wan Hai 161, 162, 163 and 165.
Explaining the process, Wan Hai said, “The interested Bidder submit price for demolition Sale and shall be deemed to be fully aware of, accepting and complying with the contents of this announcement and the measures for the implementation of the bidding. And shall submit their bid with the vessel number and vessel name. Upon the comprehensive evaluation including but not limited to Price and Market Competition in the future, the Seller in its sole discretion, will select those better bids into the second round of bidding. If you are on the shortlist, you will be required to provide your better offer in the second round of bidding and we will select the best bid with most benefit to Seller and then revert the Seller’s decision to the Winning Bidder.”
Wan Hai pointed out that each broker will represent one buyer only.
The chosen buyers will have to send the boxships to environmentally friendly ship recycling yards that meet the company’s Environmental, Social, and Governance requirements, according to a statement.
