XPO, a North American freight transportation provider, has launched the construction of a new service center in Lakeland, Florida, as part of the company’s strategy to expand its capacity across North America by adding 900 net new doors by the first quarter of 2024.
XPO is building the new facility of around 3,000m² on about 32,375 m² of land near Interstate 4 and Commonwealth Avenue.
The service center is scheduled to open in the second quarter of the next year and is expected to provide 60 doors for the busy I-4 corridor, serving areas like Tampa, Orlando, and Lakeland.
When completed, the company expects to employ approximately 75 people in the Lakeland service center.
Dave Bates, chief operating officer of XPO, commented, “We’re excited to expand our footprint in the dynamic Central Florida region, as we continue to grow capacity in strategic markets where we expect strong long-term demand.”
He added, “This new service center in Lakeland will greatly benefit our customers and provide best-in-class freight transportation service to businesses across the state. It also allows us to support the local community with well-paying jobs.”
