Yang Ming has completed the addition of ten 2,800TEU full vessels in its fleet, with the last container ship delivered being the ‘YM Cooperation’.
The new vessel will firstly serve as an extra loader on the Far East – Middle East service to ease the present tight-capacity situation and then it will be deployed on the recently announced KCX service.
The port rotation of KCX service is Pusan, Shanghai, Xiamen, Singapore, Port Kelang, Pasir Gudang, Laem Chabang, Shekou, Pusan.
The Taiwanese liner operator has held today a naming ceremony for its newbuilding at CSBC’s shipyard, which was jointly officiated by Yang Ming Chairman, Cheng Cheng-Mount and CSBC Corporation President, Wei Cheng-Tzu.
The new container vessel has a nominal capacity of 2,940TEU and is equipped with 353 plugs for reefer containers. With a length of 209.75 meters, a width of 32.8 meters and a draft of 11.2 meters, the boxhsip has the ability to cruise at a speed up to 21 knots.
It has also adopted the Sea Sword Bow design to optimise energy efficiency and hydrodynamic performances.
Furthermore, the implementation of its electronic controlled fuel injection engine with low-load tuning Exhaust Gas Bypass (EGB) fuel control system and the installation of scrubber will reduce the emissions of the vessel.
According to a statement, YM Cooperation will be one of the first vessels to receive Data-driven verification (DNV) SmartShip notations in Taiwan, which include SmartShip OE (Operational Enhancements) and PE (Performance Enhancements), indicating that the vessel is equipped with advanced features such as route-specific container stowage.
Therefore, these features could play a significant role in stowage flexibility and vessel performance enhancement, as well as in the reduction of GHG (GreenHouse Gas) emissions, which could consequently help Yang Ming to fulfill its commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
