Yang Ming enhances its fleet with another 11,000 TEU container ship

The Taiwanese container line Yang Ming has received another 11,000 TEU container vessel, namely YM Tranquility.

The new boxship, built by Imabari Shipbuilding, was chartered by Shoei Kisen Kaisha and was named after a ceremony held at the Imabari Marugame Shipyard today, 14 June.

Yang Ming ordered a total of 14 newbuildings with a capacity of 11,000 TEU through long-term charter agreements with shipowners. YM Tranquility is the eleventh in the series and will be delivered on 22 June.

With a length of 333.9 meters, a width of 48.4 meters, a draft of 16 meters, these ships are designed to travel at speed of up to 23 knots.

The vessel is equipped with various environmental features, such as scrubbers, Water Ballast Treatment Plant and Alternative Marine Power system.

A total of ten similar newbuildings have already joined the Yang Ming fleet, revitalising the company’s global fleet, reducing unit cost and improving energy efficiency.

YM Tranquility will be deployed on Yang Ming’s Trans-Pacific service PN3 with the following port rotation:

Hong Kong – Yantian (China) – Shanghai (China) – Pusan (South Korea) – Vancouver (Canada) – Tacoma/Seattle (US) – Pusan (South Korea) – Kaohsiung (Taiwan) – Hong Kong
