On 14 November, COSCO-owned Yangpu International Container Terminal exceeded 1 million TEU since the start of the year for the first time after its opening in 2016, recording year-on-year growth of 39%.
This milestone has been related to the development of Yangpu International Container Hub Port, which has recently opened two groups of service routes for ship consolidation transportation at Lianyungang and Qinzhou ports through the joint effort of COSCO Shipping Lines and Hainan Harbor & Shipping.
The Yangpu International Container Terminal at the Chinese port has also launched the “bulk to container” express shipping service between Yangpu/Haikou and Fangcheng, which has promoted the concentration of container cargoes, according to a statement.
Meanwhile, on 9 November the COSCO launched the Indian Ocean Service, an intercontinental route opened at Yangpu Terminal, following the opening of the first intercontinental transoceanic service with Hainan Free Trade Port in September 2020.
So far, Yangpu International Container Terminal has completed the upgrading of 32 sets of gantry cranes, able to remotely control operations within the coverage of the container yard reaching 91%, according to a statement.
As the following step, Yangpu International Container Terminal intends to put 36 pure electric tractors into operation in early December for the sustainable development of the Hainan Free Trade Port.
